Collections is an imprint of Q.Q. Press which we have designed specifically for our readers/subscribers who have always wanted to publish a collection of their own poetry, but have been put off by the cost charged by mainstream publishers and the numbers of copies needed as a “first run” or, worst still, have approached a “Vanity Publisher” who is quite happy to publish their work but doesn’t bother with any editing or checking, deals only in thousands of copies and then makes very little effort to deliver what they have promised in terms of publicity and sales of the work. Here you will find complete details of all the services offered by Q.Q. Press for those poets who do want to publish a collection of their poems at a cost they can afford. It is spelt out in clear and simple detail and there are no “ hidden extras ” which suddenly push up the cost once you have signed up for the deal. The only exceptions to this being any extra postage involved for orders dispatched outwith the British Isles, and those collections for which the poets ask for a large amount of illustrations. |

1) Any hidden extras - apart from those mentioned above. £160 for 50 copies of a 32 page poetry book is the price you pay. As we are poets ourselves, as well as publishers and printers, you’ll find that we want to give value for money and aren’t in it just to make a quick buck : £160 for 50 copies, that’s it ! (For Short Stories, and longer poetry books, see the Stop Press Section.) 2) A De-luxe Hardback Book - which costs an arm and a leg and commits you to a minimum print run of a thousand books. In an ideal world, poetry would sell as well as other forms of literature such as novels, but it’s not an ideal world for poets and large, expensive hardback books just won’t sell, and you’ll be left with a garage full of unsold copies of your poetry. 3) Any hassle from us - we won’t pressurize you in any way at all. Just compare our deal with any others you can find and make up your own mind whether to use us or not. No hard sell from Q.Q. Press - the ball’s in your court at all times. |

WHAT YOU WILL GET FROM Q.Q. PRESS |

1) A 32 page, A5 book - with a card cover. 2) The cover designed by us - or your own design if you prefer ( within reason! ) 3) The format designed for you - this will include the layout and all necessary typesetting, fonts, borders etc. 4) A full editing service - with advice and help regarding each poem’s layout, grammar and punctuation. Although, at the end of the day, you’re the boss and we’ll print what YOU want, it’s worth bearing in mind that presentation is very important. 5) A draft/proof copy to check - we’ll supply this for you before the book goes to press. We will have checked it ourselves, but the onus will be on you for a final check. 6) A biography of the poet - on the inside cover - if you want this, and if the book is for charity or a writers group, full details on this as supplied by you. 7) An ISBN number - plus a copy lodged with the British Library and Scottish Library at no extra cost to you. (You are responsible for supplying the other 4 copies to the Copyright Agent for the other copyright libraries. Full details on this will be given to you.) 8) A Free advert for your book - in Quantum Leap, plus a poem from the book published in Quantum Leap as an extra ‘plug’ and the book reviewed in our Review Supplement, and if you wish, a follow on rate, of just £22, for an advert for your book in the following four issues of Quantum Leap. 9) Follow-up orders at just £2.50 per poetry book - minimum follow-up order - 10 copies.( For fiction costs and longer poetry books see the Stop Press Section.) 10) A friendly, approachable staff - who’ll help you to publish your own collection of poetry at last. We’ve been there too, so we know how important it is to have friends! |

YOUR PART IN THE DEAL |

1) You pick a title for your collection. 2) You let us know the price to put on the cover. 3) You let us know cheque/p.o. details - i.e. who to be made out to and address that people may obtain further copies from. 4) You send us enough poems for 32 pages - the length and mix is up to you. We’ll let you know if there are too many or too few. 5) You bear with us while we are designing your book! We know you want to see it in print but it does take time. If your book is for a charity or a writers group, and there is a deadline to meet in terms of a supply date, please let us know well in advance so we can judge if we can meet it. 6) You pay us! - £160 for 50 copies. - Cheque made payable to A. Carter. Terms are :- an initial payment of half the cost i.e. in this case £80, when you order, then the outstanding balance once you have proof-read the book and we go to press. That’s it - it’s up to you now. |

This section sets out the pricing structure for Poetry Collections and introduces the pricing structure for Short Story Collections, necessarily higher to reflect the extra work involved and extra paper and ink used. It is also possible to do a book which is a mix of poetry and short stories, and information on prices for these is also given below, based on a 50:50 split between poems and stories. |
